When I arrived in Poland, I was eager to get started in my new found passion of teaching English having completed an intensive teacher training course in London. Fortunately, I landed a job at a fantastic school that didn’t just throw native speakers into the classroom to chat about everyday topics. Instead, they truly invested in teaching us how to teach effectively. After being trained, I also pursued a CELTA qualification, which helped me on my journey to becoming a school owner and methodologist.

I started my new career focusing on general English, business English, and conversational English. While I enjoyed helping my students learn, I often found that their progress in speaking was slower than I desired. Although traditional methods are effective, they often rely heavily on the effort students put in outside the classroom. If they’re not particularly studious or dedicated, their development can often be slow, leaving me feeling frustrated and disheartened.

It wasn’t until I discovered the Callan Method that everything changed. This innovative approach emphasizes fast-paced interaction and immersion, allowing students of all types—whether they’re aiming to enhance their professional communication skills or simply wanting to converse more naturally—to practice speaking more frequently and confidently. I was amazed by how quickly my students began to thrive. Their confidence was clearly seen as they became more comfortable expressing themselves in English, and witnessing their rapid development was extremely rewarding for me.

Outside of teaching, I’m deeply passionate about reading, particularly in psychology and self-development, areas that have proven incredibly valuable in my profession. I also have a strong love for sports, especially jump rope training, which I practice for at least 30 minutes every day. As a football enthusiast, I’m a long suffering supporter of Newcastle United.

Having opened GB English with my partner Agnieszka in 2004, I’m incredibly grateful for the journey that teaching the Callan Method has taken me on. Watching students grow in confidence and ability has been truly rewarding.
