Repeat, repeat, repeat!
When learning a foreign language, you need to hear and see the words and grammatical structures and use them many times before you really get to know them well. This is the only way to make your language confident and natural.
The Callan method is based on a carefully constructed repetition system. Once you have been introduced to new words and grammar, you immediately start using them. You practise the new material by listening to questions, giving answers and receiving immediate correction of mistakes.
New vocabulary and grammar rules reappear in different contexts as you progress through the course. Because you repeat the material many times, you don’t have to understand everything the first time. With each repetition you understand more, it becomes easier and easier for you.
Each lesson is rehearsed and repeated a minimum of 7 times.
Natural speed
Callan Method teachers speak quickly, exposing you to fast, natural speech. This allows you to practise listening in realtime and understanding without the need to translate into your native language.

The Callan Method is designed to eliminate bad habits, such as translating back and forth between your mother tongue and the language youre learning. Instead, it trains you to think directly in your target language, making communication smoother and more natural.

To further enhance your learning experience, the Callan Method includes a regular rotation of teachers. This ensures you are exposed to different accents, helping you adapt to real-world conversations with ease.
Continuous correction
In the Callan Method, your teacher actively guides and supports you as you speak, correcting any mistakes in real time. They do this by first repeating your mistake and then providing the correct version of the word or phrase. This immediate correction helps you clearly hear the difference
between the error and the correct form.

You’ll then repeat the corrected word or phrase right away, reinforcing proper usage and pronunciation before continuing to speak. This hands-on approach ensures you build confidence and accuracy with every lesson.
Useful speaking practice
The intensive speaking practice at the heart of the Callan Method is not the same as casual, free conversation. In typical “casual conversations,” you often rely on familiar words and grammar, which limits your opportunity to learn something new.
